Finding Passenger Departure Documents

Looking to find Passenger departure documents for my dad from july 1969. Can only find passenger arrivals page on National archives website. Any help you be greatly appreciated

Thanks for your post. We have digitised our passenger departure records from 1965-1971. These records are arranged by year in alphabetical order, but there’s not a specific index to make searching them easier like the arrival records.

You can search for these records yourself in the Advanced search in RecordSearch. If you’d like to search for your father’s record:

  • Go to RecordSearch
  • Select “Advanced search for items”
  • On the Advanced search page, enter the following search terms:
    • series number A1198
    • control symbol: the first letter of your father’s surname at the time and an asterisk (for example, for Smith use S* )
    • date range 1969 to 1969

This will bring up all the records for that year for people with surnames starting with the same letter as your father’s. You should then be able to find the item that would contain his surname and look through it to find him.
