How to order records that haven't been digitalized

hello, i am unable to find my relatives’ records in the immigration search. they arrived in the early 1950’s. how can i request records that don’t show up in the online search?

thanks!

I send a message to ref@naa.gov.au with all the details I have of at least one person’s name –- date of birth, country of birth or citizenship, likely ship of arrival. Try to make it the “breadwinner” because the attitudes of the time may mean that the file name is only in that person’s name. NAA is excellent at replying to these emails and tracking down files yet to be put on RecordSearch.

But if the file is on RecordSearch already, then click once on the file title, which should bring up a page which includes something like “Request a Copy” in the upper right, on the blue band just above the file title. That will lead you to a series of pages where you pay for digitising, if the file is open to the public. Not open to the public? Then you must click on the blue text which says something like “request access”. HTH
