I am looking for naturalisation records of Irene Pia Wally Rosmalen née van Lith ( born 11-03-1913)and her husband Arnold(us) Rosmalen (born 12-07-1916 in the Netherlands) who arrived with their two daughters Helen (28-01-1951) and Brigitte (16-06-1944) on February 6th 1954 in Australia from the Netherlands. They left on 18-02-1954 to the C’wealth Hostels, Fishermen’s Bend, Vic. M.L. 901 NGAS at least that is how it is stated on their arrival cards. I really want to know if they applied for naturalisation for the Australian nationality. I have no idea where to look, since I live in the Netherlands. Arnold and Irene already passed away but how about their daughters? Can someone help me out?
If someone needs help to find information about their Dutch ancestors I could help too overhere to find records..

I only see 3 names, not the one of Helen Rosmalen (28-01-1951) does that mean she passed away between 1954 and 1964? I want to find out if the two daughters did get married to find them with probably their husband’s name? Do you think you could help me with this?

The younger daughter could have died young, but I haven’t seen any proof of that. She would have still been a minor in 1963, so I assume that she automatically naturalized with her father.
Sometime before 1972 the other daughter seems to have married an Alfred (“Fred”) KAHANOFF who died in 1992 (https://collections.ajhs.com.au/Detail/objects/133153 )
Victorian marriage certificates (incl the index) are NOT available until “60 years after the date of marriage or relationship registration”.
However, the daughters might be mentioned on Arnold’s Death Certificate # 19004 / 1978 via Search your family history | bdm.vic.gov.au . The cheapest DC option seems to be $20.
FYI: Arnold’s death is mentioned twice in the index: #1 as “Arnold ROSMALEN” and #2 as “Arnie ROSMAN”.
Thank you again for your information. It is very useful if I know a married name and I do understand that because of privacy reasons certain information is not available. Could you tell me why you think one of the daughters was married with Alfred Kahanoff? Since I don’t see her name mentioned as being his partner.
Again your help is very appreciated, since it;s hard to find out where I can find all the information.

Alfred Kahanoff’s entry in the (formerly mentioned) Victorian BDM death index includes the name of his wife (incl her maiden name).
FYI
There is a chance that one or both of the Rosmalen daughters are still alive. To respect their privacy I have not mentioned their names/details directly (i.e. a bit like the strict privacy laws of the Netherlands)
