How do I find my Army service records in RAAMC 1971-1978 at 7th Field Ambulance, Western Australia. Please help.
Hi Kaigee03,
Army service records for the CMF in this time period are still held by the Department of Defence.
You have a couple of options to access them.
As you’re searching for your own records, the quickest and most efficient way will probably be for you to contact the Department of Defence directly. You can contact them by submitting a Personal Information Request through their website:
Alternatively, the National Archives can contact the Department of Defence to arrange access to your records. This may take longer, and would be treated as a request for public access, which may mean some material cannot be made available.
If you’d like to request we contact Defence for you, you can submit a request here:

Dear Jessie,
Thank you for your email.
I have written to the Department of Defence to obtain my own Army records. Initialy when I wrote to the Department of Defence, I requested to have both my Army and Navy reords, however, they only sent me the Navy records, and I had to write to them again to get my army records. It only took about 2 weeks for them to send me my Navy records (1978-2000), whereas I was in the Army for only 8 years (1971-1978). So it should not not take much time. I hope they will send the Army records soon.
Kind regards,
Robert
