Hoping someone could provide advice on how to correct the spelling of a name in a Passenger Arrival List. Someone’s surname has been spelt incorrectly.
Thanks In Advance.
Hello I believe you’d need some official documentation like a birth, marriage og death certificate to get it changed. And documentation of your relationship to the person. Plus most likely your own birth certificate? Or some ID. I expect if the surname is spelt differently on the mentioned certificates you connect with the issuer of the place where the certificate was issued. If it’s the archives NAA that have spelt it wrong you’ll get a reply from the staff here. But NAA store material from the issuer seldom if ever the NAA own doing.
It’s a spelling error from the data entry process at NAA. Instead of the surname being spelled with a LI it has been transcribed as a U.
Hi UrbanCowboy,
If you can let us know the details of the name and item that have the error, our staff can look into it and make any necessary corrections. Please submit a general enquiry and our Reference staff will investigate for you. Please be sure to include the item ID and the details of the name as recorded on the passenger index to allow us to identify the correct entry.
Regards,
Jessie
