Hi,
Trying to find when and how David Randall PEARSON arrived in WA and was in Coolgardie by 1892 but back in Victoria by 1896 where he married. How can I search shipping records for these periods?
Some possibilities:
“D Pearson” departs Melbourne in Mar 1893 on the ship “Bullarra”, Dest: Fremantle via Ports
Passenger List: https://prov.vic.gov.au/archive/2698554E-F7F0-11E9-AE98-C961B4A4D74E?image=441
WA Arrival: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/260602437?searchTerm=PEARSON
On 30 Aug 1895 a “D Pearson” departs Melbourne on the Ship “Adelaide”, Dest: Fremantle via Adelaide & Albany
Passenger List: https://prov.vic.gov.au/archive/26A5C2D8-F7F0-11E9-AE98-B56B5381DA36?image=177
He turns out to be a “D R Pearson”: https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/4540354?searchTerm=PEARSON
He may have arrived with a Henry and Flora MORRIS c 1890
Thanks for that - I wonder if he came prior to 1893 ? Where can I search for departures from Melb - WA c 1891/1892?
The David Randall Pearson I am tracing was born 1861 in Ballarat and died in Melb. 1931. He married in Melb. in 1896 - so the ages on the shipping don’t match.
Can you tell me where to find shipping records from SA or VIC to WA in 1890 - 1910?
Much appreciate your help
Dian
I believe I’d given you the 2 closest possibilities (especially the 1893 one as it concerns a mining group), but here are some more sources:
VIC - I’d already given the Public Records Office Victoria
Finally, you can try https://www.familysearch.org as it has various digitized films for early Australian immigration.
