Around the year 1900 a Rowland Sidwell left Birmingham England and set up in Tasmania where he created a chemist business. His father was Eli Sidwell, my great grandfather. Any background would be welcome. Thanks Peter Burford

1 – “Background” I would understand as his life before coming to Australia, but I have a feeling that that is not what you are after?

2 – How sure are you re your (rather limited) data? I can only see a chemist called Harry Sidwell who arrived as a child in the early 1880’s and his father’s name was definitely NOT “Eli”.

Hi

i’m sure about the father’s name.

Eli was a farmer/’quarryman who died in 1925 at the age of 76.

It may be 1890 when he sent his son to Australia.

I am relying on word of mouth at the moment but hope for better info in the next few weeks.

Hello,

I’m so very sorry for the late reply, thank you very much for getting back to me. The information for the article seems to be about my Nan and it has filled some holes in the information I had about her life. However, I know that the man in the article isn’t my Nan biological father and so I’m still looking for Claude White. The only information about Claude is on my Nans birth certificate, which states that;

- Daphney White (formally Price) married Claude White on the 8th of July 1916 in Albury NSW (I have found out that they did not, in fact, ever marry)

- When Pearl May (my Nan) was born Claude stated he was 31 years of age and was a labourer and was from Deniliquin NSW

- The birth took place on Wood Street in Donald Victoria

I hope that this information is helpful as that is all I have only Claude, he seems to be very elusive.

Kind regards,

Michelle
