Records of Australian Rubber Plantation Owners, Workers and Their Families During Pior, During, and Post WW2

Hi All,

I am hoping someone may be able to assist with, as I feel I have really hit a dead end.

My great grand uncle Arthur Oliver Pollard, his wife Mary Agnes Kathleen Green, and their three sons lived outside of Port Moresby, where they (I assume) owned and worked on a rubber plantation.

I believe that they lived there at least from 1930, whereupon they possibly married at Obu Plantation on 6 feb 1930. On 13 Aug 1946 Arthur passed away at Aroa Plantion. When I searched on NAA, I did find that there were 14 pages of documents available on my Arthur. I paid for them, but they weren’t overly helpful. The majority discussed his application for additional clothing tokens for his family, and his securing passage from Port Moresby to Brisbane for his family to move to Brisbane. There is no separate documentation for his wife.

I cannot find any information or documentation about their lives at all prior to that, and more importantly, I can’t find any information on his passing away or lists of Australian settlers in New Guinea during that period.

Would anyone be able to guide me in the right direction? I have tried contacting the family or his wife and children, with no luck.

Have you tried looking at the newspapers? Here are some events, but there are more:
