Hello to all, my late mother was Betty Joan Compton 1924-2012. With the outbreak of war mum was keen to enlisted in the WAAAF and much against the wishes of her parents, did so on completion of her Year 11 at high school. She was posted to RAAF HQ in Western Australia and worked in the registry until leaving to marry my father in 1944.
My problem is that there is no record of a Betty Joan Compton in RAAF records or even in a general name search in the NAA.
I would appreciate advice on where to start in finding my mother’s records please. I live in Western Australia in the event there is a repository here.
