Searching for a relative who emigrated to Australia in the 1960s8

I am in the UK searching for a relative that emigrated to Australia in 1967. I have found a record of their arrival on 02 September 1967 Qantas Flight/EG 172. But the Access status is Not yet examined. Location Canberra. Can someone advise how I can find out any more information and proceed to track them down.

Hi Steve,
You need to submit an “application for access to have the record examined”. There should be a link at the top of your search page which says “Request Copy” (top right hand side on same line as the item details). Once you submit the application for access request, the Archives examine the file, they should notify you that is Open, Open With Exception etc (though I did not receive this notification so keep your eye out). This should occur within 90 days. You may then have to pay for the digitisation of the file; again, they should notify you that it has been done (again didn’t happen in my case and so the appeals period had expired). Again, could take up to 90 days. Best advice I can give, is keep a look out for the records by searching for the person again - tedious I know, but if you’re not notified, you’ll miss potentially being able to appeal the decision (if applicable). Also, digitised files, once released tend to be a small file icon on the top right hand corner of the search page once details are inputted again.
I hope this makes sense to you. Best of luck.

Hi Flojo,
Thank you very much for that information, I will give it a try.
Kind regards,
Steve
