Iam researching my husbandsUncle Albert Ronald McDonald 345 joined the army 21 Aug 1914 7th Battalion
born1894 in Brunswick HE was awarded The CROIX deGUERRE Belgiium He was also in WW2 in the MERCANT NAVY He served on 3 different ships which were sunk but he survived each time We don't know any more and trying to find out the names of the ships and his history during that time Thanks if anyone can help

I was going to ask you if you knew of the existence Albert, and you obviously do. The Merchant Navy records aren't digitised and not indexed by individual name.

Scroll down to 'Microfilmed employment records - Australian Merchant Seamen' and click on the link
Next page you will see 'Items in this series on RecordSearch' - click on the '100' link and you will see that they are indexed in groups of names.
If you submit a request they will look for a record for you and if they find one will let you know the cost of having the record digitised.
