Hi Belinda,

Do you have a time period?  The info that is publically available is really dependant on how recent this was.  A State would also be good as each keeps their own records.

Ok, Edward and Margaret married in the December quarter 1930 at Woolwich in Kent.

The first time I see Edward on electoral rolls is in 1949 at Malvern in Victoria, he is a Glazier, then in 1954 they both appear at Hotham.

There is a document indexed here on the NAA website which you can have digitised, just search for his name in RecordSearch http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/search/index.aspx

Applications for permission to remain in Australia upon discharge from the British Armed Forces lodged both in Australia and abroad (Form 49) [and Royal Air Force release letters for British airmen and airwomen]

[SCRAGG, Edward (Army Service No.: 1052094) born in Sheffield, England on 20 December 1902; Wife: Margaret SCRAGG; Children: Richard Edward and Roger Victor SCRAGG - Application dated: Melbourne, 15 January 1946]

When your search results come up, just click on his name and on the next page you will see "request copy" over on the right hand side.

Unfortunately I don't think that you can look for the possible names in these files via the search screen, so you'll have to go through the files one by one. You could try to narrow the files down by defining a time period (eg 1942-1946) and with the some specific search words: e.g. Timor evacu*. run 3 full game
