and im looking to find my dads mother long shot i know
her name was Beatrice woods she left england in 1959 on the strathaird
with a matthew we believe to be her son her address on arrival was 16 bond stree Preston Victoria Melbourne

Donna, Yes George & Beatrice WOODS who arrived on the Strathaird - she was nee BEASLEY so not your Beatrice - they were living in Preston in Victoria (see info that Debra posted above about them returning to Australia after a holiday in UK)
I originally found that arrival on the National Archives record search- www.naa.gov.au
Unfortunately we do not know which state your Beatrice went to & whether she was enrolled for voting either
The one listed in the electoral rolls turned out to be the other Beatrice and her husband George & their family

Donna, I have searched the immigration records that are online in the National Archives and she is not listed but there are records that are missing from the archives
