I can see that a Voldemars and Marianna Abolins were in Bonegilla at the same time as Rita-Margot. I assume that they were her parents? For both of them is mentioned: “Latvian - Arrived Melbourne per FAIRSEA 23 May 1950”, but I can’t see an online passenger list for them or for other passengers who are supposed to be on that list as well (not sure why?).
You can find it on this same site i.e http://naa.gov.au/. There are no documents, so it’s all a matter of reading the details for the individuals and the series.
Rita-Margot is listed in series A2571 for period 24 May 1950 - 16 Aug 1950. This series contains “Name Index Cards, Migrants Registration [Bonegilla]” and Marianne and Voldermars can also be found in this series.
Marianne and Voldermars have a second listing in series SP908/1. This is where both have the text “[Latvian - Arrived Melbourne per FAIRSEA 23 May 1950]”.
Finally, I realised that there was another entry, that I’d overlooked initially because Rita-Margot’s name had been misspelled:
In series A12027, there is an entry for “ABOLINS Voldemars born 14 October 1912; Marianne born 29 October 1925; Riga Margot born 7 November 1945”
Purpose of Series A2027: “This series consists of Migrant Selection Documents for Displaced Persons who travelled to Australia on the ship ‘Fairsea’ departing Bremerhaven on 18 April 1950 and arriving at Melbourne 23 May 1950”
Oh wow thanks so much I am trying to find info about my birth mother who I have never met .. I think her name was Rita Margot Abolins, although on my original birth certificate she calls herself Rita Margot Avalons .... I have no idea about my father he is not named on my birth certificate ... much appreciated
