My great grandfather was John James Williams. My grandmother Ella Kerzia Williams, her sister Ethel who married Thomas Wardle. Trying to find out any information about John James William, I know he was divorced from his wife Rachel.
Ethel's sister Ella my grandmother married Charles Hudson. They had two children Moirai(my mum) & Phylis.Could you give me the details of John James Williams death certificate. Had he remarried? Have more children?
I live in Sydney, I would love to meet up with you , if possible.
Hi Margaret, the only details (if correct) on John is that he died in 1912 at Wallsend, Newcastle. As far as I can determine he never remarried. I am pretty sure this is him because when Rachel died in 1937 she was living at Carrington, Newcastle. I do not have his death certificate but the Registration No is 13014. I have not been able to find a burial place for him yet.
I will forward any new information I receive to you. It is very difficult tracking down ancestors with very little info but very rewarding when a piece of puzzle falls into place.
It would be nice to meet and I will be in Sydney next year so maybe we can organise to catch up.
I discovered that John & Rachel were divorced. Some where I heard he lived in Sydney. On that death certificate did it name Rachel, Ethel & Ella.? My mum use to visit the wardles when she was small. Rachel died at Daisy's home in carrington my mum was with her. Ella died in 1913 of TB. I tracked down a John James Williams railway worker death notice on trove. I'm not at home, but when I get there I will check my records. His name is so common, it is hard to track.
I moved from Sydney to Hobart 20 years ago and through friends n friends etc, in particular Robert Hogan ( a very very good mate of Brian) - they were house mates for many years in 2 properties in New Town. I dated Brian for a period and in this time met both Kevin & Rosie. Brian and I always remained good friends. We talked a lot & shared a lot. Knowing Brian your may know how difficult he found talking about his worries.
I had been in Sydney caring for my terminally ill mother at the time but was in Hobart the Wednesday before he left again to be with Rosie. That was the last time I saw him. I tried to get in contact with Kevin but no luck.
I knew all that was important to Brian through out his life. As he was a very deep & sentimental soul I was just so sorry I was not in Hobart to ....well, just respect the things he held dear & ensure they were passed on and looked after.
I could go on hope this may clarify my knowledge of Brian. Rob (Parra) Hogan was devastated and misses him so much. He may be of additional help.
Feel free to contact me if I can be of any further help.
My name is Rhona Murchie. I live in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Colin Murchie was my father-in-law. He passed away on the 14 January 2000, from a coronary thrombosis. He never knew he was adopted We all miss him desperately. He would've been 80 last Monday. :(
Here are your missing details:
Yes, Colin married Adelaide King, commonly known as Addie. They had three sons; James (my late husband), Grant and Francois. We have two children: Leigh-Ann (22) and Colin (14). Grant is married to Rochelle - no children as yet. Francois has a child, Amber-Leigh Yandle (25), by Sarah Yandle, who now lives in Wales. They are currently engaged. Francois was also married to & divorced from Carmen Marais. They have twins: Dominique and Donovan (22).
His brother, Alexander (Lex's) children live in the Durban area. Dorothy Dodd (nee Murchie) has a letter from Maggie Murchie, requesting that no-one be told about Dad's adoption until that generation has passed on. I have told Dottie that I will find out all I can & keep her posted, but the rest of the family would be bomb-shocked if I had to break this to them know. We are a very close family and very proudly Murchie...
Could you possibly e-mail me please, as there is a section of this story I would rather not post on a public forum. My e-mail address is email@example.com. However, that notwithstanding, I would greatly appreciate ANY information you could give me about your mom, your family (the Snows), as well as anything about the Australian Murchies. I know everything that has already been posted about them on this forum, and some besides, but there are gaps.
I am trying to build up a family tree and you are, so to speak, the missing link. :)
Me again. By the way, Maggie Murchie passed away in the early 1980's I think. Before I got to know the family anyway. Addie is still alive, having turned 80 last October. She lives in the Strand, Western Cape, not far from Cape Town. She and Dad both asked at one stage if he was adopted and were told , "No", (as per James's & Maggie's dying wishes...) so I have no intention of disillusioning her. However, I remain curious and I know Dottie in Durban would love to fill in the gaps too. She's the one who's had to keep this BIG SECRET all these years.
