I am researching the names on the First World War honour roll in Dowerin and I have men who served in both world wars: Thomas Richard Coxon N100073; Lesley Alexander McLachlan 39113; Ernest Reginald Trindall 7255. I need some help to access those records.

I also have: Thomas Bernard Kiely who has no digitised record and only 2 folios; Charles Werndly who has no digital copy and only 1 folio. Both of these records are held in Melbourne. Can I see them if I get there, and do I need to give notice to access the papers?

Finally the AIF.adfa site lists a Roy Riley 952, we have a n R Riley on our board, and he is the only one I can find, but he doesn't seem to have a record with National Archives, can you help me find him please?

Hi Jan. I think you have taken on a herculean task. Copies of unit histories generally contain nominal rolls.

My area of interest is WW1and I am trying to locate the service records of those members who served in Australia in the AMF in some cases before joining the AIF. Does anyone know where the non-AIF records are held?

You are not wrong but I was 4 year old in 1946 when my Mother dressed my twin sister and I in our one and only best dress and took us to the Toodyay Railway Station to welcom home the Toodyay men of the 2/4th Machine Gun Battalion coming home from Changi Prison. I have never ever & nor will I ever forget the horror of the skeletal remains that got off that train. I have written 4 books about our War Heros. My last was in 2010 and is called "Forever Warriors" the history of Western Australias Aboriginal men & women who served from the Boer War to Vietnam. No one ever told me about them and when I was researching WA.' Aboriginal Family Tree's, I came across birth certificates that listed the father as a Soldier. I never knew. I found 735 Aboriginal men & women from WA who had served in all conflicts
