Hi Robert,
The WW1 nominal roll can be searched here http://www.awm.gov.au/research/people/nominal_rolls/first_world_war/
You can search for his full service record here http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/SearchNRetrieve/Interface/SearchScre...
If he has a common name it is easier to use the service number and his surname as your 'keywords'. All WW1 service records have been digitised.
Cheers,
Debra
I am trying to find where Leonard Edward Hutchings service number qx296006 serve in the ww2
Hi Darryl,
You will need to request that his service record be digitised in order to see his service history.
Put his name into RecordSearch here http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/search/index.aspx
When the index entry comes up click on it and on the next page you will see 'Request copy' on the right hand side of the page. Just click on that link and follow the prompts through to payment.
When you get a choice of product, choose 'Online copy - images displayed on RecordSearch', and it will cost you just $20.90.
Cheers,
Debra
I joined to request help in finding my father, Gordon Stanley Sanders, and to obtain his full service record.
I first tried back in 2002 and tried again on 28/01/2012 & received a replies that were totally unacceptable. I believe work had stopped on 01 Jan 1970.
You have possibly given me a clue in the reply to Darryl dated Jan 11th 2014. Please confirm.
Hi Sandra,
Your father's entry on the WW2 nominal roll is here:
http://www.ww2roll.gov.au/Veteran.aspx?serviceId=A&veteranId=68...
Search for the service record in the NAA catalogue here using his full name:
RecordSearch - http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/search/index.aspx
On the right hand side of the results page you will see "request copy", just follow the links to payment.
His birth and death are indexed here:
http://www.genealogysa.org.au/resources/online-databases.html
Cheers,
Debra
Thank you Debra I will try these things. Thanks again.
If he enlisted in Australia, you should be able to find him on this website - http://discoveringanzacs.naa.gov.au/
Shortly NZ personnel will also be listed here.
