What is meant by File cover only - Top numbered to W

I have been researching my family but have come across this File cover only - Top numbered to W.

Before purchasing anything further as I have already purchased something that is not covering my topic, does this mean I would not get the full documentation available.

Hi Juanita,

Essentially, it means that the documents which were in the file have been moved to another file by the agency that created the records.

We still have the original file, but it is now empty - thus 'file cover only'. I wouldn't suggest that you purchase a copy of this. Instead, I recommend that you submit our online inquiry form, giving us details of the file you are referring to. We can then investigate and see if we can locate the documents on another file.
