I am looking for my grandfather that was sent to new south wales in 1838 aboard the bengal merchant.

i can find when he was given freedom in december of 1844. His name was William Heaps. Is there is anyone that can

me with any information or any ideas of were i can look i would greatly appreciate it.

Louise,  Have you tried a google search for  William Heaps convict Bengal Merchant?

quite a few listings come up which may help

what sort of information do you need on him

 

this site lists a death date but no further information

Louise,  That death listed in the link looks like the following one from NSW bdm indexes
