After many years of wondering about family members I found this site and hope it may shed some light. I have visited Oz on a number of occasions myself but never seem to have the time to spend researching this, although I did visit the records office in Sydney on one last visit.
So, my family members left UK in the summer of 1969 (could have been 1970). They were a family of eight. The family name is Weir.
Richard (43)
Elizabeth (Betty) (36)
Elizabeth (15)
Richard (13)
Janet (11)
Robert (10)
Linda (8)
William (6 months)
They flew to Sydney and started life down under in Denison Street, Manly. They moved from there to another address in Manly. Last contact appears to have been 1971/72.
Only additional information I know is that Elizabeth, the daughter, married a Fireman I believe in the Sydney district. Dad Richard, was a Wire Weaver by trade.
Not a lot to go on, but here's hoping

The family arrived in (Aug) 1970 and their intended address was in Narrabeen NSW. (Richard sr passenger card: http://soda.naa.gov.au/record/12353664/2669 )
The mothers name was Betsy on her passenger card although there are electoral rolls (until 1980) on Ancestry that use Betty? (Her passenger card: http://soda.naa.gov.au/record/12353664/2491 )

Thanks Sylvia, yes this is the family details. Any ideas on how to progress this search now? Likelihood I will need to start researching the children. The surname Weir does seem to be very common.
Regards
Debbie
From your answer I gather that you've already seen the electoral rolls that I mentioned? Have you tried searching the Wyong area where Richard, Betty and Janet (and probably some more of the younger kids) were living in the late 1970's?
I haven't been able to find a something like a death notice, so they could still be alive.
