I am unable to find any record of Peter Wojtowicz arriving in Australia after WW11, he would have been about 20 and had

no family with him. I have found electoral rolls from 1958 but nothing previously.I have no idea were else to search..

Thanks for any help Barbara

Barbara,  There are 3 listed on records which may be him - if the records are not online you can request them for a fee

1. Piotr Wojtowicz born 11th June 1920

2. Peter  Wojtowicz born 12th April,1925

3. Pioter Wojtowicz born 12th April, 1925

it appears the last two may be the same person - just put these names separately into Record Search and you will be able to find the listing  www.naa.gov.au

Barbara,  This site may help once you find what year he arrived - it also suggests you contact the National Archives for help so maybe send them an email

Thank you Elizabeth, Peter born 1925 sounds close, I went back to the site and typed in his name again but not getting anything for him. Where did you find name and date of birth please.

Elizabeth, I found the record with DOB . I have been through every shipping list up till 1953 when his daughter was born. Still hopeful to find when he arrived.

There are very few indexed passenger lists for that time period and the ship was a US Navy Transport so you probably won't find a passenger list as such. The link Elizabeth gave is for his immigration records.  Click through the 'series number' link:

Series Number: A11668
Title:  Migrant Selection Documents for Displaced Persons who travelled to Australia per General Omar Bundy departing Naples 11 June 1949.

A random example of a file that has been digitised so you can see what his file might look like:

Barbara,   The passenger list for the USAT General Omar Bundy consists of 2 pages and also states that not all passengers names are listed - mostly those who embarked at Freemantle in Western Australia

Do you want me to try & find out more about that ship & possibly a photo?

P.S.  Thanks Deb
