Hi, I am looking to see if there are any reports or Inquest records for the death of my uncle, Ronald Joseph O'Farrell (QX1464).
His cause of death is listed ads Accidental ( drowning ), Place of Death is Japan
Thanks for your help.
Michael, do you have a copy of his war records which might say if there was an inquest or not
I would presume if there was an inquest that it would have been done by the Army and not the Japanese Government - you could try contacting Army records in Australia for advice or the Australian War Memorial for advice - have you seen the photo of his headstone? If not I can give you the link
I doubt any records would be in the State archives for him (under inquests) but you could always enquire
Thanks for your reply. I do not have and records or indications that there was an inquest after my Uncle's death. I have always just assumed that there would have been one. I will most likely leave it at that.
I would very much like to have a link to a photo of his headstone.
Thanks again for your assistance.
Link to photo of headstone - click on picture to enlarge
Link to his war file on NAA - 16 pages incl. photos
Many thanks Elizabeth, you have been very helpful.
The photos are great.
