I know that Edward arrived in Melbourne on the "Nestor" in 1926. I also know that he did not obtain Australian citizenship, so possibly couldn't stay in the country for very long, but what happens to him after that is a mystery.
There seem to be records of outbound passengers on a register that in not available online.....can anyone research on my behalf? How do I go about this?
Many Thanks
Gillian, English people did not need to become naturalized
there is an outward passenger index from Victoria on this site but not sure what date it goes to
https://prov.vic.gov.au/explore-collection/explore-topic/passenger-...
I will see if I can find him on the electoral rolls

Gillian, I found this mention of him on Rootsweb World connect site
seems he went back to England & married
https://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=delp...
you could check the free UK BDM records online for his death if he stayed in England

Hi there Elizabeth
many thanks for researching on my behalf.
The rootsweb connection, is already known to me and identifies what happened to him prior to emigrating to Australia. It's what happened to him after this that is my concern.
I now know that he's not recorded as dying in Australia, thanks to a member on Ancestry, although that doesn't rule out his death aboard the ship going over, or an unrecorded death once he got there.
The passenger lists you directed me to, only record up to 1923......I need post 1926 please. That didn't seem possible on this site, but perhaps he left Australia from another port??
Thanks again for your interest, but my Grandfather is proving to be an impossible "brick wall!!"
Gillian, He is not listed under that name in the electoral rolls & I was unable to find any death for him here - sorry I don't have any other outward passenger indexes post 1926 - do you have access to Find my Past in a library near you as that might help searching immigration
It is hard to know if the 1926 immigration here is him or not as it doesn't have any other details except a possible matching birth date - he may not have come here at all but of course it is possible
It is also possible he was known by another name
Elizabeth
