When I do a basic search for Howell-Price in Army records, entries for Owen, Richmond, Frederick and Philip appear, but not their brother David, who served in the South African war.

I have tried being more specific with name and category and less specific, but cannot find anything about David Howell-Price.

Can anyone help?

Lyn,  I found his listing in the War memorial site www.awm.gov.au

it is listed under PRICE - not much on Boer War records but this may help

http://www.awm.gov.au/people/rolls/R1435485/

Try searching this National Archives site under David PRICE instead - not sure if he will be listed

Thanks, Elizabeth. I had found that nominal roll entry at the War Memorial website, but nothing about his Boer War service.

Basic Search on National Archives RecordSearch for Howell and Price yields 46 files, mostly about the younger (hero) brothers in WW1, but nothing about David in the Boer War.

Basic Search for David and Price yields 179 files, none of them about the Boer War.

Very frustrating - I hope the censors have not been at work!

Lyn,  No censors at work bu there is very little information held about Boer War Records for some reason

What you see on the War Memorial may be all you can find on David

Are you only looking for Boer War Service records?

Lyn,  Have you seen this link about the HOWELL PRICE family with photo?

There is a little bit more info about David as well

Elizabeth,

Yes. I have found quite a bit of information about David's life, including his unfortunate activities during WW1. His Boer War service is missing.

Lyn,  Was he David Clayton HOWELL PRICE?

if so there are two listing for him on the National Archives and copies can be requested

I love the photo of his father and his brothers on the above link - what an amazing family

Also found a biography on one of them but you may have already seen it

David Clayton Winchcombe Howell-Price !!

Remarkably similar versions of that article appear on a number of websites. Notice how David, the eldest, is mentioned last, and as little is said about him as possible? The newspapers of 1917 were not so reticent.

Lyn,  I wondered where you had got the info about his exploits in WW1 -  I suppose his father being a minister his behaviour was "not appropriate"

Have you got copies of the information on the NAA site> that is if he was David Clayton HOWELL PRICE?

You can request it online on this site if he is the right person

Lyn,   I have just read all the articles on David on Trove - now I know what you mean and any wonder he was not mentioned much in the family as stark contrast to his Father & Brothers

So sad that 3 of his brothers died in WW1
