I am trying to find when Arthur died ( and any issue).

He mother was Lydia Turner of Beechworth Vic. (not Beechwood NSW!)

He was born in Wooragee in 1891.

His father died in a mine accident in 1899 at Wooragee.

Amelia Mansfield married Arthur Raymond TURNER on 19 Oct 1929 in Adelaide South Australia.

(Assume this is my Arthur)

Amelia may have died in 1994.Somerton, Adelaide, South Australia, Australia.

He was known as "Tot" Turner according to oral history.

Any information would be welcome.

Thank you in advance.

Hi Rob,

You have two Arthurs mixed up here.  The Arthur Raymond TURNER who married Amelia MANSFIELD died in 1972 at Adelaide (Reg. 1972160A/2460)  SA indexes are online at http://www.genealogysa.org.au/resources/online-databases.html

The chap whose service record you refer to married Elizabeth Mary SUTHERLAND in 1920 in Victoria.  (Reg. 9412)  Have you looked at his service record? Page 5 is a letter from his wife Elizabeth M. TURNER written in 1967 which indicates that Arthur is deceased.

Death indexes show that he died in 1952 aged 62, father John, Mother Lydia ( m.s. FRAZIER), Reg. 17532.

Elizabeth Mary died in 1972, aged 83, father William SUTHERLAND, mother Janet (m.s. ALCORN), Reg. 11873

Victorian birth indexes are online, but restricted after 1924.

Whow.  Thanks Debra.

Looks like I can discard the SA connection.

I got a birthdate of Arthur at the Wooragee School of 4 Nov 1889.

I have found his mother died in 1918 and prior to his return from War (how sad)

His grand father died tragically on 22 August 1889 at Wooragee as well.

This is great information. He has been a "lost" man for so long.

I hope to find a bit of his story so I can put the seventh (and last) child of Lydia to rest.

(He was the only child to John Turner)

Many thanks again

Hi Clare
This has been a big gap in my family tree.
Would be most interested to have those details.
Would like to record their marriage details ideally as well.
Great to hear from you.
