Hi,
I don't know if this is the correct site to post this query, but here goes!
Joseph Evan Gardner was in the RAAF during WW2 and presumably at the Tocumwal Air Base in 1945 as he married there in October of that year.
I am trying to discover where he might have been during the period say, early December 1945 and mid January 1946. Would he have still been at Tocumwal or would he have been demobilized by then and returned to Sydney?
Is there any reason, e.g. an Airforce base, why he would have been at Gundagai at that time?
I cannot afford to purchase his Service Records or visit Canberra.
Any ideas would be welcome.
Thanks
Mary
#1 - Apparently he was discharged from Tocumwal. See: https://nominal-rolls.dva.gov.au/veteran?id=907229&c=WW2
#2 - His file is part of the Series A9301.The NAA mentions for Series B883, B884, A9300 and A9301: “The National Archives will digitise all records in these series by June 2023. Records will be progressively added to RecordSearch as they are digitised and will be available free of charge…” i.e. within the year you should be able to view his file online.

Thank you so much for this Sylvia. It is a great help.
