My grandfather, Alfred Berg (born Adolf Bergman 1877 Goteborg) came to Australia from Sweden in the early 1900’s aboard a ship.
In 1915 he and my grandmother (Edith) lived in the Tenterfield region of NSW. Grandfather was the postmaster at Yetman, a small town south of Tenterfield.
I have found information about his time in Tenterfield, but need more documents relating to when he arrived in Australia, and where he travelled to and from prior to 1912.
Does anyone have any information about how to find crew-lists from the early part of the twentieth century?
Grandfather’s name changed from Adolf Bergman to Alfred Berg, but I have no clue as to when this occurred. The few crew-lists that I have found have him listed as A Bergman, with his occupation onboard ship as ‘carpenter’.
Any help with this would be gratefully appreciated and I thank you in advance...
Maureen (Berg) Durney
I just PM’d you with the documents. Let me know if you can’t see them...
