I am researching the names on the First World War honour roll in Dowerin and I have men who served in both world wars: Thomas Richard Coxon N100073; Lesley Alexander McLachlan 39113; Ernest Reginald Trindall 7255. I need some help to access those records.

I also have: Thomas Bernard Kiely who has no digitised record and only 2 folios; Charles Werndly who has no digital copy and only 1 folio. Both of these records are held in Melbourne. Can I see them if I get there, and do I need to…

David Smith and Y3A Medium Trench Mortar Battery

In my research on the First World War names on the Dowerin War Memorial I have a David Smith who started in the 44th Battalion and went on to the Y3A Medium Trench Mortar Battery.  Unfortunately he has a record like so many men, "taken on strength" followed by "killed in action".  Most of them I can fill in with a bit of information about what was happening in the battalion at the time, but here I don't know much more than killed on 22 May 1917 and buried in Strand Military Cemetery in…
