Hi,
I don't know if this is the correct site to post this query, but here goes!
Joseph Evan Gardner was in the RAAF during WW2 and presumably at the Tocumwal Air Base in 1945 as he married there in October of that year.
I am trying to discover where he might have been during the period say, early December 1945 and mid January 1946. Would he have still been at Tocumwal or would he have been demobilized by then and returned to Sydney?
Is there any reason, e.g. an…

Hi, my name is Margaret Clark and I have been researching my father in law to obtain his birth certificate and when he came to Australia. He was born in UK on 11/2/1913. Others in the family have him coming out on the SS BORDA arriving in Sydney in 1929. This M Jones is aged only 7 in 1929 so obviously not the right one.
He married a Mary Linda Lewis in 1936 and I would say his arrival in Australia would not be much before that year.
My email address is: …

I am looking for the service record of George Boyd Connor. According to the dva nominal roll he had 3 separate service numbers - 437957, N78812, NX34870 I suspect the first of these was from his time in the Sydney University Regiment, the second from the 20th Infantry Training Bn, Wallgrove, and the 3rd from active service - mainly with the 2/33rd Bn AIF. He was in the 2/33 Bn at the time of his discharge in January 1945 which I believe was on medical grounds.
NAA Record…

I am looking for a possible inquest of Horace Henry Hillman, a mate on a ship "Don Diego" in July-August 1876. While the ship was standing off the island of Atiu, Cook Islands. He fell through an open after hatch and broke his neck. He was buried on shore. This is according to The Age, Melbourne dated Tue 15 Aug 1876 - Page 2.

Hi,
I heard on the radio (2GB 873) this morning that a homeless veteran living in Orange, NSW had died and is being buried I think on Monday. The presenter Ben Fordham was trying to find out which war the veteran was in or something about his military service.
His name is Glen Sutton - age 69 so birth year would be about 1952. Death June/July 2021 Orange.
It would be lovely to find out something so maybe Veteran Affairs could be approached to provide a cross or…

I'm rather new to family History research. My father Andrew Gordon Thompson DOB: 26/01/1934 at Lidcombe NSW passed away on 16/08/2008 at Dubbo NSW. My mother Ellen Lenore Thompson (Nee Paul) DOB 19/09/1937 at Southport QLD has dementia & I am one of her 5 daughters and her EPOA. During COVID I started going through all mum & dads photo albums and discovered that they hadn't made any notes on most of the photos at all and we have now missed the boat on getting mum's…

Hi, I have hit a brick wall and need help. I can not find the birth certificate of my grandfather, Leopold Leslie Manual Tanks.
On his death certificate it states he was born in Moree on the 30/08/1894. I have found another person, Edward Tanks born 30/08/1893 in Moree.
I am thinking is it possible that his name was changed/and there is a mistake of one year on the certificates. Could anyone direct me on where I should search next.
Thanks
Beverley

I am trying to locate a record about my father being taken into custody by police for non payment of a child support payment. I'm not sure what or who managed that aspect of child welfare, especially when the child's mother was indigenous,
This happened in Cootamundra NSW sometime between 1930 and 1944. He had previously worked with the young indigenous woman who was also employed on the same property, and they became close for a time. Their relationship did not last though due to…
