McSWEENEY Gladys

Gladys McSWEENEY was born in Boolarra, Victoria in 1918 died 1966.  She put her three children into an orphanage in May 1945, the eldest being Cully James McSWEENEY (my brother-in-law) who was adopted when he was 7.  We have been trying to find his birth certificate and have approached all the Australian State registry offices but none of them can find him registered under that name.

According to the orphanage and adoption papers, his mother was supposed to have married in the UK but…

Arthur Snow and Maria (nee Scannell)

I am now seeking help in finding out about my Great Parent's arrival in Australia.

We know that they were in Leicester, Leicestershire England for their marriage in 1876 and a son Walter was born there in 1877. A daughter Kate Elizabeth Snow was born in Wellington, South Africa in 1880 and a 2nd daughter Annie Clara Snow may also have been born there in 1882. All we know is that they were in Melbourne, Victoria in 1887 when other children were born.

They ended up living in…

1957 Shipping records - Fremantle.

In 1957 my mother went back to England to re-unite with family.

She left Fremantle on a Swedish Cargo Ship which carried 12 passengers, sometime between March & May and returned later in the same year.

I can not find any records and would like to know how I go about finding such records.

stleone family

I'm looking for anybody who knows anything about the St Leone family originally from Edmonton Alberta, Canada. My fathers name was William Sheppard St Leone, his father Peter William St leone and his mother Ellen Sheppard. Apparently they were married in England. I believe Ellen Sheppard was born in Sydney Australia. Any one with any info would be appreciated. Also William (Bill) St Leone was in world war 2 and was a Rat of Trobuk.

Fairsky 1961 Assisted Migrant Passage

Hi Everyone,

I am going to make myself look like a fool here but my stepmother has asked me look into a relative who left Southampton on the 8/7/1961 on the Fairsky.

My question is I have found the record for a Brenda Mary Anne McDonnell with a series  number of A1877 and a barcode of 7325814 and location of Canberra, but does the location mean that she settled in Canberra or that the record is in Canberra?

Another question if you do not…
