I am looking to trace my fathers arrival in Australia. I have a Certificate of Identity No 40623 dated 25th February 1925 stating that he Albert Edward Fitzsimons left Tilbury LOondon on the Sophocles which sailed on the 26th March 1925.  From what he told me he and my uncle Robert Fitzsimons arrived in Melbourne (date not known) where they disembarked and apparently eventually ended up on a sheep station and Castlemaine, they then after some time drove 5000 sheep to Roma in Queensland. I always thought that the number of sheep was a little optimistic for two men, but I have since spoken to a fellow who has a sheep station in Roma and believes that that was quite normal. They then went to work on the irrigation canals in the Darling Downs.  In 1929 dad traveled to Sydney meet up with my mother Mary Bell who had also traveled out from Belfast where they had known each other.  They were married at St James Church on 29th February 1929 where he and mum resided at Balmain through the depression years. He finally gained employment at Mort's Dock.  He told me that he traveled to work each day under the Harbour Bridge whilst it was being contructed. They later moved to Macquarie Fields where they had a poultry farm. I am the last of five children and the only surviving member of the family. I am 75 year old.  I would be pleased to find some records or anything relating to them.
