Hello, I am researching seven N.Z. Erickson Brothers who served in WW1. I am amazed how much information can be obtained from their records that round out the very little information that we previously knew about them and which directs one to another path of further discovery.

Hi, I am trying to find out how my Uncle William Caldwell Edwards died. He is buried in the War Memorial cemetery and served in WWI. Did he die in action or some other way? He would have been around 34 years old. How do I find this out? Regards, Mary.

Sorry! I made a mistake regarding the war year. He served in WWII and not WWI. Cheers, Mary

Oops in my post a moment ago I said my uncle was living at Chilwell Street in Geelong, I should have said 49 Clarke Street, Chilwell, Geelong.

I think I lost my earlier  post, I was enquiring about my great uncle Francis Willie Goodwin service number 17,he joined up on 29th Aug 1914 as an Anzac

He was born in UK and went to Australia in 1913. He was living at 49 Clarke Street, Chilwell Geelong with a Mary and William Henry Rogers.

I do have his digitalised war record but I am looking for any other information out there re his life in Australia.

I would really appreciate any ideas or information about the area he lived or any relatives/descendants or knowledge of the Rogers family. I know it is a long shot

I have found mentions of him in a diary on the Great War Forum, so know that information can come to light.

Willie died at Ypres in Oct 1917, he had won the Military Cross and Bar and had been recommended for the VC.

I am visiting his grave in Oct this year 99 years and 4 days after his death, so I want to build as big a picture of his life as possible

Any information or ideas would be most appreciated.
