Hi all,
I'm trying to find the photo of my great grandfather James Picken Cowey from his WW2 service dossier. It is to appear on the Kokoda historical signage at the 1000 Steps in Ferntree Gully and their cut off for amendments is today, hence the urgency!! Jim was a member of the 39th battalion and the photo exists as I've seen it in the book "Mud Over Blood". I have been in contact with the author to attempt to get a copy through him, but no luck so far, hence my post.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Summer

Unfortunately, the photo isn't on the records that are in the National Archives collection - if they still existed in the official records they would have been digitised as part of the service record. The Australian War Memorial might have a photograph of him in their collection, and you can contact their Research Centre online or by phone:
