The war service of my Father and Grandfather and other related war service men.

I am currently researching my Groom family and my wife's Croft family, through Ancestry.com.au and have found that people on both sides of our family have both served and lost their lives during WW1 and WW2. That stated, I am very much a novice researcher, with most of my results achieved by my hit and miss method punctuated by the occasional breakthrough.

Of particular interest at the moment is finding out more about the following servicemen;

1) my father Charles Evans Groom. WW2  7th Division AIF service no. VX66564.

2) my uncle Clifton Roland Groom. WW2  Australian Commando Squadron service no. VX83414.

3) my grandfather Roland Blucher Groom WW1 6th Battalion, AIF service no. 3052. Wounded in France 16 August 1916.

4) my wife's uncle Adolphus George Ison WW1 14th Battalion, AIF service no. 2162. Bugler. Killed in Action at Gallipoli, his memorial is Panel 41 at Lone Pine.

Have you got copies of their service records as yet as they may help you find more information about their service

If you want to find out more about the people themselves then maybe join a genealogy message board
