I have been searching for a photograph of 1st Lieut. RAF Percival Ivan RAWLINSON. I found his digital service record, which did not have a photo in it, however whilst I was flayling around, I came across a private collection that states there is a photo of this man with his brother. Unfortunaltely, I couldn't seem to find how I could access this private collection and now I cannot even find where it was! Can anyone help me. The photograph is for a Roll of Honour book that I am recreating as the original Roll of Honour book was taken from the Church and not returned.

kind regards, Liz

Hi Liz

The best source of photographs of Australian servicemen and women is the Australian War Memorial’s Collection Database. This database can be accessed at: www.awm.gov.au/database/collection.asp.

This database can be searched by keywords (eg surname). Please note however that very few photographs were taken of individual soldiers, thus it may be advisable to search by the name of the unit he served in, or conflicts the unit was engaged in.

Hi Tonia,

Many, many thanks for this information. I found the private collection of Percy Rawlinson and information regarding the photograph and have now sent a request for a copy. Hopefully they will let me have one.

Thank you for all your help.

kind regards
