Thank you for participating in the forum. I’ve really enjoyed reading the postings and trying to help you to find the information you’ve been looking for.
The National Archives of Australia established the forum last year with the aim of helping researchers and other users of the Archives collection to navigate our online collection database, RecordSearch. We are very aware that finding records in archival collections can be very confusing and daunting - even for the more experienced researchers - as each item is unique and no archive organises its collection in the same way as another.
I am currently evaluating how successful the forum has been and would really appreciate any comments or feedback you may have about your experiences with the RecordSearch forum. I'm very interested in whether you received helpful advice on how to use our online collection databases, whether you were able to find the information you were seeking, whether you think the forum should continue, did you think the advice you received was timely, and whether you got a better understanding of archives in general, and more specifically, the collection of the National Archives. However, anything else you would like to let us know will also be welcome.
Thanks for taking the time to consider this

I can only say that I have had feed back but with family history it is hard to get positive answers, but we get other avenues to look at.
Thanks for your feedback, it will be very useful for my evaluation. I hope you were able to find the information you were looking for, and the different research avenues were of some use.
Hi Tonia. Just like to say how much you and the forum has helped me. Sometimes it can be frustrating doing it alone and that you guided me step by step until I obtained what I was looking form. Great forum and keep it up. Regards Trish
Thanks very much for your feedback, Trish. I am very glad you were able to find what you were looking for.
I.m only too pleased to give you my thoughts on the NA forum. In one word "brilliant". I was trying to trace relatives who left the UK in 1960 and with whom I had had no contact since then. Yourself and your friend Debra guided me through all the complicated organisations who wanted to help but could not due to privacy restrictions. With the forums help bit by bit I was able to track my relatives up to 1980.I was able to establish at that time who was still alive and who had passed away. Of the four relatives it turned out only one was still alive and though he had a common family name (Jones) because he had three unusual christian names I thought it would be easy to track him down. Thanks to the forum and my good friends Tonia and Debra I managed it,even though this relative had changed his family name. Thanks to N A Archives forum to his delight and mine I found my only cousin after 52 years
So in all honesty I cannot thank you enough and will sing your praises to everyone.
Thanks a million
Thanks so much for your feedback. I am very pleased your search produced such a wonderful family reunion.
Hi Tonia Ray Verdon here I think you mat have to check your link settings as I am reciving feedback replies at my address
If you click on the 'Stop following - don't email me when people reply' link at the bottom of this page, you should be able to stop this problem. If you don't have this option available, you probably received my response to your feedback as an email as you were the person whose posting ws being responded to.
If you continue to receive emails after the above, let me know and I'll see what I can do about it.
A lot of the success I have had with my family research is due to people like Tonia who are able to assist the novice researcher in these forums.
The archives can be difficult at times so forum discussion is of great assistance.
I have had success every time I have made a request.
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank the NAA staff; especially Tonia for the fantastic help I have had to date.
Thanks very much, Dino. I'm gald we've been able to help you find the information you needed.
I have found my experience with the forum to be very helpful. I started doing my family tree 2 years ago and it has led me to all diffferent corners of the world. My search in Australia particularly was important, not just to me but other members of my extended family. They had been trying to find an uncle that emmigrated years ago and got nowhere, within hours of joining the forum I had addresses, obituaries and names etc. The people who helped me couldn't do enough to help and I definately feel that this should continue. When you live thousands of miles away it's just nice that with the click of a button someone can find the information that makes all the difference.
I think this is a very succesful and worthwhile recordsearch forum, don't go anywhere!!
Thanks for your feedback, and I'm glad we've been able to help you put some of the pieces of your family history together.
