would like any information on Arthur joe potter who married olive mary lintott in Manjimup in 1931.
Can anyone help with this.
Galle, I found this on Trove but the dates differ - do you have a copy of his 1st marriage certificate which should have more information about him? Manjimup is in Western Australia which you probably already know
The WA BDM Index is online if you need it
Galle, There are actually two marriages listed for Arthur POTTER to Olive M LINTOTT - one in 1927 & another in 1931
on the WA BDM Index
thank you so much for that. Can you find out anymore about Olive. I know she was born in 1910 and died in 1968. She had 5 children. I think she had a troubled life and may have been going under the name of lintott.
She may have died at Claremont Western Australia. It has been rumoured that she may have died in the Claremont mental institution but I have no evidence of this. Many thanks for your help. Gaile
Gaile, I think you would need to get a copy of her marriage cert & hope it had more identifying information about her - nothing showing up under LINTOFF for her birth in WA and she could have been born under another name as you suggest or born elsewhere
Her death in Claremont on 6th October, 1968 lists her parents as George E and Evelyn A - aged 58 years
She is buried in Karrakatta Cemetery, Anglican VC section - grave 0316
Have you checked TROVE to see if there was anything in the newspapers at the time regarding her marriage or death?
p.s Sorry I spelt your name incorrectly in the previous two messages
Gaile, I have found some info for you about Olive - will send you a friends request so I can email it to you as a bit much to post here - also have some immigration records & further family into
Gaile, Have you seen the family photo of Olives Mother Evelyn on the Ancestry public member tree?
It was taken just before they left England to go to Australia - if not I have saved it for you
thank you so much. My home email is email@example.com
Olive Lintott had 5 children. Heresay has it that she was sent into same Claremont Institution around 1936. The kids were sent to a receiving institution and were sent out to various families. I'm told Olive was in and out more than once. Why I don't know !!! , but I would really like to know. It was also said she was put in under her maiden name - Lintott. Seems Arthur Potter was not a nice man...
Would you be able to do a check on Ernest Lintott. He may have been married in England. Came to Australia and married Julia ? They lived in Subiaco Perth.
Am so very grateful for all your help. It's like a maze trying to put the pieces together. Have been trying to do this for 3 years... Cheers for now.
Gaile, I doubt you would be able to access the Claremont Institution records if they are available for privacy reasons - if the place still exists you could always contact them & ask
I sent you an email with more info - did you get it?
Thank you Elizabeth. No I didn't get the email. Doh!
Just out of interest where abouts are you. I am living in Collie western australia
Gaile, I will resend it - let me know if it turns up
I am in Sydney
Gaile, I will see if I can find a previous marriage for Ernest Richard LINTOTT in England & will let you know
His death/cemetery record states he was born c. 1906 if this age on death is correct
Have you seen his WW2 record?
also found this which mentions his full birth date
