If this record appears twice, I am sorry, when I added the discussion, I lost the thread.

Hi, I am new to this site and wondered if anyone can tell me where I would locate (if they exist) records on someone's occupation - Ferry Master - Sydney.

I assumed Ferry Master was a pilot of the Manly Ferries in Sydney.   The name is MacPhee K.F.  He died in Sydney aged 54.

Hello Lesley

The National Archives does not hold records relating to the employment of ferry masters, as it is not a Commonwealth function. State Records NSW holds the records of the Maritime Services Board which was involved in the regulation of shipping in NSW and may have had oversight of the ferries.  If you contact them, they may be able to help you find more information about the person you are looking for and the role of Ferry Master.
