I just did a search so that I could pass on to my brother our fathers WW11 Army record.
MAY FRANCIS EDMOND : Service Number - SX9487 : Date of Birth - 13 Mar 1919 : Place of Birth - ELLISTON SA : Place of Enlistment - ADELAIDE SA : Next of Kin - MAY JOSIAH
Both myself and my sister have previously downloaded this digital file only to find it now marked.
Why would this be?
|Item details for: B883, SX9487|
I noticed this change after the files were transferred from AWM to NAA. I purchased nine files between 2002 and 2010, only to find now that none of them are available as digitised records. Very disappointing - to say the least.
Good question. It would be very unusual for a digital copy of an item to be removed from RecordSearch, but it's not impossible.
I'm investigating this and will get back to you when I learn more.
I've sent you a message about this file.
Yes it is that same person. He is my father. I am thinking that when I first copied this record it was at the AWM
I use the name search function with the branch of service and service number
Sorry, but I'm not sure what you mean about this record being at the AWM.
The records in these series have never been at the AWM. They were transferred directly from Defence to NAA. They had never been digitised until we started doing this in 2001. As I mentioned previously, we can't find anything to indicate that this record has ever been digitised by us, which is why I asked if you were sure this was the record you'd accessed previously.
I was misinformed about the previous location then.
I can confirm though that the search was for MAY FRANCIS EDMOND : Service Number - SX9487 : Date of Birth - 13 Mar 1919 : Place of Birth - ELLISTON SA : Place of Enlistment - ADELAIDE SA : Next of Kin - MAY JOSIAH
