Hi everyone,
I have recently discovered a newspaper article regarding my grandfather in which he was fined £5 in 1935 for "willful damage to property". It's really surprised the family as this is totally out of character from the man we knew! If it was him, he certainly kept it quiet!
The newspaper article is from 16 April 1935, which would fit as he was in the British navy at the time. His name was Alfred Charles George Baynes.
Is it possible to search the archives from the UK to find out more about the incident?
Any help anyone could give would be really great!

Hi Alex,

The full story is here http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/51928080

You will not find anything in the UK archives about the incident, service records for that period are kept by the MOD https://www.gov.uk/requests-for-personal-data-and-service-records

Cheers,

Debra
