Why can't we contact other NAA members by private message instead of first having to befriend them?

Often these messages go unanswered or ignored which leaves them pending and there is no way you can then resend a friends request

Would be good so we could contact people who have posted if they don't get back within a reasonable time as these lookups/questions often take quite a bit of time and it is very disheartening to have the replies ignored

Thamks Leslie - much appreciated

Leslie,   Is there any news regarding this?   The friends requests I have sent which have been ignored are still blocking me from trying to recontact the members

Why can't we send other members messages without have to befriend them?

Hi Elizabeth,

Thank you for following this up.

We are, unfortunately not able to change this process to allow instant messaging without befriending a member first.

I can only suggest replying to the original post from the person you are trying to contact.

Thanks,

Leslie (Archives staff)

Leslie,   Thanks for your quick reply - it is a shame they cannot change it as it causes problems

I will try your suggestion again & hope I can get through to them this time

Unfortunately a lot of people including me ignore friends requests if they don't know who the person is and this is probably what has happened in this case

It is very disheartening to spend time helping a person with their request & not to get a reply
