Very new to family research. Trying to find info on my grandmother that arrived from Malta to Freemantle W.A. in or around 1957.  I know these documents exist as I have check it out on Ancestry.com. Why do I have to pay them quite a high subscription fee. And why cant I find out the same information. on this site, for FREE. ???

Grace,  Have you tried putting your grandmothers name in the NAME SEARCH and then clicking IMMIGRATION in the drop down box

http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/search/index.aspx

Many immigration records are on the national archives but not all -

You can access Ancestry without charge through many libraries or if you give me your grandmothers name I can check it for you
