See www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/deaths/deathCertificates.htm

It will depend how you were related to the deceased person if you are able to apply.

In NSW, Death Certificates are available to:

  • The next of kin named on the death certificate, i.e. spouse (married/defacto), parent or child of the deceased
  • The funeral director (within two months of the registration of death)
  • Solicitor acting for next of kin or Estate
  • Executor of the Estate

Hope this helps.

thank you Cherilyn

I request the death certificate of my father has REGISTRY BDM but he refuses to delivering it and we collect money
to meet that problem?

Apologies for the delay in responding to your posting.  You may not have been able to get a copy of your father's death certificate because the NSW Registrar probably considers his second family in Australia as the next of kin, rather than you.

I recommend you email bdm-compaints@agd.nsw.gov.au and outline all of the information including:

- your father's first marriage in Croatia,

- that you are his son by his first marriage,

- that he got married in Australia without first obtaining a divorce from your mother.

More information on your rights of complaint/appeal can be found at www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/feedback.htm
