Hello all,

I have a beautiful Australian red ensign with some graffiti on it which I am trying to corroborate. The graffiti appears to be written in pencil and nominates the Australian 9th Battalion A Company on the Somme in 1916. A number of names appear in each of the stars on the flag. From what I can gather it has been signed by an 'Albert' 'Richard' and 'Harold'. These are not concrete but this is what I interpret them as being. There are some additional names which I cannot pick.

Would anyone know where I could find a nominal roll for the A Company 9th Battalion during Somme 1916?

Hi Ben,

I think the only roll you will find is on departure from Australia:
